Expectations for rookies usually aren’t very high–unless that player is a top five pick in their draft class. But, there are those rooks that have incredible impacts right from the jump. These five running backs are the best of the batch.

Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings

Stats: 238 carries, 1, 341 yards, 5.6 yards per carry, 12 rushing touchdowns

Peterson accumulated those numbers in only 14 games–nine starts. What’s more, A.P. broke the record for rushing yards in a game with 296 yards against the Chargers in Week 9 of the 2007 season. He went to be voted the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
