2008 – Cole Hamels (Philadelphia Phillies)
Hamels wasn’t just the ace for the Phillies in the World Series; he was their ace all through their playoff run–going 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA on his way to leading the Phillies to their first World Series championship since 1980 and sending long-suffering Philadelphia fans into euphoria. And for good measure, he also took home the NLCS MVP award, as well.
