Every year in the NFL, teams fire their coaches for not performing well enough. Oftentimes, they’ll dig into the college ranks to grab the hot, new name in college football. Recently, we saw it with Chip Kelly’s hiring and firing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Most times, college coaches don’t cut it in the NFL. Here are five who really couldn’t cut it at the next level.
Steve Spurrier – NFL record: 12-20
“The Ol’ Ball Coach” brought what he thought would be a revolutionary offense from the Florida Gators to the Washington Redskins. What Spurrier actually brought was a 12-20 record over two seasons, including getting destroyed in his final three games by a combined 85-31 score.
