One of my favorite healthy lifestyle apps is MyFitnessPal. This app has a lot to offer regardless of where you are on your healthy eating journey. To get started, download this free app from the App Store on your phone. Create an account and profile, and you’re good to go! You can also easily connect with friends who also use the app and help cheer each other on.
The main function of MyFitnessPal is to serve as a food diary. You can log breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. You’ll be surprised to find that most foods you eat on a daily basis are already in the MyFitnessPal database. Simply type in the food you ate, search the food that is in the database, and confirm your food entry. The app will tell you the breakdown of how many calories, grams of fat, sugar, protein, carbs (and more) you’ve eaten. The app can also break down macros for you.
Another awesome feature MyFitnessPal offers is their recipe calculator. You can enter any recipe into the app and save it for future use. If your recipe is on a blog or another website, you can enter the web address into the recipe calculator, and the app is able to extract all of the ingredients into the calculator itself. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Finally, I love that I am able to connect my Fitbit to MyFitnessPal. The two apps will sync your steps, calories burned and calories consumed.
