Winning the World Series is one way to create–or cement–a legacy for players and teams alike. But it takes a special performance to be named the Most Valuable Player of the Fall Classic. There have been some flat-out amazing playoff performances throughout MLB history, but just in case you don’t know who won the MVP in every World Series, we’ll break them down for you. We’ll look at the 1970s.
1979 – Willie Stargell (Pittsburgh Pirates)
Stargell sealed the World Series win for the Pirates with a late-inning home run in Game Seven. It was his third homer of the series. The Pirates rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to knock off the Orioles.
