On the field, each team consists of offenders (aka, strikers), midfielders and defenders (including, the goalie). A team may vary the mix of offenders, midfielders and defenders based on its strengths and weaknesses or the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the opposing team. For example, an opposing team thought to be very strong offensively might warrant a more heavily populated set of defenders than a weaker offensive team. Every team benefits from having a highly-skilled, agile and fast goalie…as the goalie is the last line of every defense!
