A goalie is the last line of defense for a team. They are located close to the goal, inside the goal box. Sometimes, they may go beyond the goal box, if their offense is dominating on the other side of the field. They can take goal kicks, and when shot upon, they grab the ball and throw it back or kick it back into play to one of their teammates. They cannot handle the ball outside of the goal box, which would qualify as a hand ball. But they can handle the ball anywhere inside the goal box.
