Earlier this month, The Angels’ had to make severe budget cuts due to the National pandemic. The Major League Baseball organization furloughed all area scouts in amaterur and international departments, members of their player development staff and minor league coaches and coordinators because of the coronavirus pandemic. First baseman, Albert Pujoles, has since picked up the salaries of the Angel’s furloughed staff members in the Domincan Republic. The gesture totaling $180,000 will cover the employees’ salaries for five months. Pujols is a native of the Dominican Republic, and is not the first major league athlete in the Los Angeles area to fill a financial void. There is still no date in place for when minor and major league operations will resume.
