Baseball is back, four months after Opening Day was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The defending World Series champions, The Washington Nationals hosted the New York Yankees in the MLB season opener, and the Yankees won 4-1. Fan viewership is up almost 200%, despite the many changes baseball has had to encounter. Games are currently being played without fans. Many of the teams are showing off cardboard cutouts of family and friends to make the seats less bare. Players are seen socially distancing in the dugouts, avoiding high-fives and celebratory home run hugs. Players are also encouraged to avoid spitting and chewing seeds, and to wear masks when possible. Though things are not exactly as they were there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding upcoming games, simply because it is the only competitive sports fans can watch.
